Thomas Carl Smith, who became manager in 1857, acquired the shaky business in 1861, reopened it as the Union Porcelain Works in 1862, and by 1864-5 had changed over to hardpaste porcelain.
Greenpoint is the northernmost neighborhood located in the borough of Brooklyn, Long Island, New York. The neighborhood is bounded on the southwest by Williamsburg at the Bushwick inlet, on the southeast by the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and East Williamsburg, on the north by Newton Creek and Long Island City, Queens at the Pulaski Bridge, and on the west by the East River.
