BiographyStudied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and was a founding member of the Devetsil group in 1920. One of the leading Czech artists devoted to surrealism; he exhibited paintings, collages, and photographs at the first surrealist exhibition in Prague in 1935. In 1941 he published an anti-Hitler tract in collaboration with the poet Jindrich Heisler entitled "Na jehlách techto dnu."
