1837–1868
Jean Gille was one of the leading manufacturers of colored biscuit porcelain in the 19th century. The firm dates back to the 1830s and displayed at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London where it was awarded a Prize Medal. The Gille firm, listed as Gille Jeune, also exhibited at the 1862 International Exhibition in London and the Paris Exhibition of 1867. After Gille's death in 1868, the firm was taken up by one of his modelers, Charles Baury to become Vion & Baury.
