James Woodson
James Woodson
American, born 1941
James Woodson was born in Waco and educated at the University of Texas and Texas Christian University. His work has been influenced by the Texas landscape, particularly the Big Bend region of Texas. The way in which that landscape is physiologically understood, represented, and depicted has been a major concentration of his work. His paintings incorporate large complex landscapes that depict expansive Big Bend vistas. Faint mirage-like images are overlaid on the landscapes, suggesting movement, time, and memory.
Woodson currently lives and works in Fort Worth. He is Associate Professor of Art at Texas Christian University where he has taught and influenced many students and artists since 1974.
