BiographyFrench printmaker Henri Riviere (1865–1951) was the first artist to seriously investigate the pictorial possibilities of a structure that remains a treasured cultural icon of Paris and of France. Riviere’s views of the Eiffel Tower depict that magnificent structure at various times of day, in all four seasons, and in the transitory effects of weather; all give the impression of a scene caught by a quick glance.Person TypePerson
