John McBride was 19 years old in the summer of 1980 when he began
photo-graphing the vibrant party scene at Westheimer and Montrose—an area that
he recalls was “Houston’s version of New York’s Times Square.” The subjects of
this “flash-on-camera” photograph are dressed in their personal adaptations of
New Wave fashion, illustrating the impact of post-punk bands on everyday fashion.
