DescriptionGeneral Taylor’s Encampment Quickstep was among the popular music, literature, and art created to celebrate General Zachary Taylor and his armies, and to drum up support for the American cause during the Mexican-American War. This edition was published in a seven-page folio along with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Celebrated Grand Waltz and Saratoga Lake Waltz. All of the works in the folio were arranged for performance on the pianoforte, allowing for their easy enjoyment by the American populace.
