A founding photo-correspondent for the newspaper Revolución, Mario Ferrer Mortimor belonged to the “epic generation” of photographers known for their images celebrating the heroes and accomplishments of the revolution. Rather than photograph only the new leaders of the nation, however, Mortimor also portrayed the common man, the rural peasantry on whom the revolution and future depended.

Mario Ferrer Mortimor, fotorreportero fundador del periódico Revolución, perteneció a la “generación épica” de fotógrafos, conocida por sus imágenes celebratorias de los héroes y logros de la revolución. No obstante, además de fotografiar a los nuevos líderes de la nación, Mortimor retrató al hombre común y a los campesinos, de quienes dependían tanto la revolución como el futuro.
