For almost 50 years, Louis Faurer photographed in cities, making images that are closer to poetry than journalism. Faurer’s eye for visual repetition, the bold contrast of black and white, and the dynamism of human movement set his work apart. He did not seek out events, personalities, or famous sites but instead captured life on the streets with great clarity, tenderness, and wit. In this photograph, the artist captured pedestrians floating in an arch of mirrors. Faurer’s vision of the city is one pulsating with life and potential.
