Description

Small, tripod-base tables like this are often referred to as candlestands, but by the time this was made as oil lamps were more prevalent. Its likely maker, Carl Andreas Jahn, grew up working in the cabinet shop established by his father, Johann Michael Jahn, in the 1840s in the Texas German settlement of New Braunfels. The elder Jahn died in 1883, but his son and grandchildren continued in the furniture business until 1944.
