Wanda Wulz was a third-generation portrait photographer. In addition to her portrait studio work, she created experimental compositions aligned with avant-garde theories. In 1931 Wulz embraced the tenets of Futurism, an Italian movement that celebrated the modern world of industry and technology by creating compositions ripe with energy and movement. In this photograph, Wulz layered multiple exposures of a woman’s legs. With a sense of rhythmic movement, the photograph captures the aura of dance and the freedom of movement.
