DescriptionThis cup was a trophy awarded to Detroit steel and shipping magnate Eber B. Ward, whose yacht Humming Bird won second place in the first regatta held by the city’s Peninsular Yacht Club in 1858. Ropes around the base of the cup and forming its handle make reference to the nautical nature of the prize.
