DescriptionFrom photography’s inception in 1839, methods of capturing the world in color were zealously pursued. Hand-colored prints in the 19th century gave way to technical advances of the 20th century. In the 1930s and 1940s, Czech photographer Jaroslav Rössler became one of the first specialists in the complex “carbro” color process, which was the favored process for color images that were destined for the printed pages of magazines. Rössler’s creative advertisement presented a geometric stack of Foma film products, topped by its newest roll film. The colorful, tower-like arrangement suggested the durability and modernity of the company’s offerings.
