DescriptionThis portrait was acquired at the same time as a portrait attributed to Benjamin Blyth of the Reverend James Diman, who served as pastor of the Second (or East) Church of Salem, Massachusetts. Though the subject is probably Mary Orne Diman, James’s wife, it is the work of a different artist who was probably English.
Provenance[Israel Sack, Inc., New York]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, November 29, 1961; given to MFAH, by 1966.
