DescriptionBing returned to Paris several times in the years immediately after World War II, taking up the camera with renewed vigor. By this point, she had abandoned the Leica for the larger-format Rolleiflex, producing images marked by a greater stillness and graphic quality. For instance, in the 1930s she photographed from within the Eiffel Tower, looking at the crowds of people below; by contrast, in this photograph from the early 1950s she focused on the rigorous geometries of metal lines against a cloudy sky.
