Description

Matthew Duncan was born in 1796 in Edgefield, South Carolina, and came to Bastrop County, Texas, from Randolph County, Alabama, and with his son George and son-in-law John W. Chandler petitioned in 1854 for land to establish a pottery. He called the enterprise Randolph Factory.

This jug’s elongated, gently sloping shoulders give it a distinctive profile.
