DescriptionThis brass candlestick holds a box at its base for tinder, which is an inflammable substance that readily takes fire from a spark and burns the candlewick.
Provenance[Joan Morris, Stamford, Connecticut]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, 1958; given to MFAH, by 1966.
