DescriptionThis plate features a view of New York’s Hudson highlands from Bull Hill just north of West Point. The image was adapted from a work by the English artist William Henry Bartlett, who traveled to the United States to record scenic views that were later engraved and published in American Scenery: or Land, Lake, and River Illustrations of Transatlantic Nature.
Provenance[The Stradlings, New York]; purchased by MFAH, 1989.
