DescriptionHooked rugs, typically made by women in the home, employed loops of yarn or fabric strips pulled from the underside of the ground fabric with an implement similar to a crochet hook to create the pile. Some patterns were commercial products, but many were created by the rug maker.
Provenance[R. E. Condon, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, Houston; Estate of Miss Ima Hogg, 1975; given to MFAH, 1979.
