Description

This print of New Haven Green depicts buildings in a variety of architectural styles. At the center of the image is Ithiel Town’s Greek Revival State House (1831), which was still relatively new when this print was made. To its left is the Gothic Revival Trinity Church (1813–1814), also designed by Town, stands as one of the earliest examples of this architectural style in the United States.
