DescriptionThis portrait was commissioned by Harper’s Bazaar, but renowned art director Alexey Brodovitch rejected it. The photograph subsequently became one of Arnold Newman’s best known, so iconic that Newman later used it in a self-portrait, posing himself in the same position at the piano with a framed print of this Stravinsky portrait propped against the open lid.
