Description

Marynn Older Ausubel joined the Photo League in the fall of 1938 as a
photography student and was an active member until its dissolution. As a
documentary photographer, Ausubel had a unique gift for photographing children,
conveying their character and depth of feeling with a sensitive nuance. This
portrait of two brothers was taken outside the home they shared with their
mother and three younger siblings in St. Petersburg, Florida. The boys’ mutual
affection and comfort with shared space is evident in the ease of their touch
captured in Ausubel’s photograph.
