Although he describes them as “depictions” of the night
sky, Joan Fontcuberta’s photographs in his Constellations
series actually record dust, insects, and debris from his windshield. The
artist’s work raises ordinary objects to extraordinary levels, and brings the
mysteries of the cosmos down to earth.
