Catherine Wagner has extensively photographed theme parks and other escapist attractions across America. Invited to the Louisiana World Exposition in 1984, Wagner made a series of photographs depicting the built environment constructed for the event. Photographing from the monorail encircling the site, Wagner portrayed the complex chaos of the structures, representing not only a sense of the space but also the cultural identity and aspirations embodied by the ephemeral architecture.
