ProvenanceThe artist, c. 1958; collection of Georges Tabaraud (1914-2008)1; estate of Georges Tabaraud; private collection, Paris; [John Szoke Gallery, New York, Feb. 2012-2013]; purchased by Peter and Frances Parker Marzio (1947-2022)2, 2013-2022; Estate of Frances Parker Marzio, 2022-2023; given to MFAH, 2023.

1. Picasso gifted this impression of Jacqueline de profil à droite to his close friend Georges Tabaraud, editor of the French Communist daily paper Le Patriote and publisher of Picasso et la Presse (2000).
2. Three years after marrying Peter Marzio in 1979, Frances Parker Marzio and her husband moved to Houston, where Peter assumed the position of Director at the MFAH. Putting to use an education received at the University of Miami and George Washington University, as well as experience gained as a fellow at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Frances served as the curator of antiquities at the MFAH from the early 1990s through 2016. During her tenure, she curated many exhibitions and wrote or co-wrote multiple books, and she coupled her curatorial work with responsibilities as an aide to the museum’s Board of Trustees.
