Barbara Kasten uses complex, large-scale cinematic lighting to make architectural and landscape photographs with striking tonalities and shadows. With The Cliffs, Kasten turned her eye to ancient architectural forms—the Pueblo cliff dwellings of the Puye ruins in New Mexico, offering a romanticized view of the landscape awash in sentiment and mythic possibility.
