Fig. 2 [Plate I] an earlier inscription praising Michelangelo that had appeared on State II of the plate has been replaced by a coat-of arms, surmounted by a crown and framed by palm fronds, and a dedicatory inscription to the poet Matthijs van de Merwede, Lord of Clootwijck.
These elements were added in 1650 when the plate was printed by Vincenzo Cenci.
