1. The initials inscribed in the middle of Lugt 305 indicate the identity of the curator who authorized the sale of the duplicate work; in general, the British Museum’s Department of Prints and Drawings disposed of its duplicated by amicable exchange, although two sales were organized in 1811 and 1880.
2. Lugt 302 was used in the second half of the 19th century and includes the year (1864), the month and date (May 14), and the serial number (265).
