According to donor Laurie Taylor Mitchell, this sheet originated as a page from a book or album in the Library of the Strozzi Palace, Florence, Italy. It was purchased by Nancy Douglass Mitchell Riepe from Giuseppe Orioli, Florentine dealer in Italian books and manuscripts, in 1930. In October of 1979, Nancy gifted the print to her nephew, Braxton Dallam Mitchell, who had it framed and hung above a chair in his office.
