Object Type
An accomplished muralist, printmaker, illustrator, cinematographer, and photographer, Emilio Amero worked and taught in the United States and Mexico, influencing artists in both countries. This dynamic photograph of toy horses and stacked chairs, a celebration of traditional crafts intended for a never-realized photobook about life in southwestern Mexico, blends elements of Surrealism and documentary-style photography, the worlds of childhood fantasy and adult occupation.
ProvenanceThe artist, d. 1976; his descendants; [Charles Isaacs Photographs and Gregory Leroy, 2019]; purchased by MFAH, 2019.
