DescriptionAmong the most celebrated and revered of America’s Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton is remembered as the primary author of The Federalist Papers and as the leading force in establishing the young republic’s financial system. This very rare memorial to Hamilton features a large obelisk and urn—typical funerary imagery—along with depictions of Liberty and Columbia, who holds a 15-star flag. Liberty symbolized the new nation’s political and social ideals, while Columbia represented the United States as a whole, as Britannia did for Great Britain.
