DescriptionThis
time-lapse photograph presents the solar eclipse of January 24, 1925, which
lasted for a total of 2 minutes and 32 seconds. When Edward Burdick
photographed this eclipse in Westerly, Rhode Island, he was in the path of
totality, meaning that at the point of maximum eclipse, the moon covered the
sun completely. Burdick’s multiple-exposure image presents the extraordinary
arc of the eclipse over a conventional New England home.
