Constructive Universalism was a language of symbols that the
artists of the Taller Torres-García (TTG) expanded to fit their own expressive
needs. In this work, Horacio added unique pictographs (bell, leaf, and asterisk)
to the established system and organized them into horizontal bands, imbuing the
composition with a linguistic syntax. He also infused them with volumetric
weight reminiscent of his large-scale murals carved in stone, thus establishing
a connection to the TTG’s public architectural interventions.
