Description

Every spring, the Arab-Israeli War of 1948 is commemorated
as the Nakba (Catastrophe) by Palestinians, and by Israelis as the War of
Independence. The year 2013 marked the 65th anniversary of the war. In his
series Independence | Nakba, Sheikh photographed one Palestinian and one
Israeli born each year since, tracing the generations back to that pivotal year
of 1948.
