Object Type
image shows the traces of oil exploration in the Rio Colorado Valley, the
border of Rio Negro and La Pampa provinces in the central region of her native
Argentina. Evoking the beauty and mystery of a star chart, Magno’s photograph
makes the competing systems of humankind and nature visible. One of many young
artists who find and manipulate source imagery from the internet, Magno hopes
her work will prompt the viewer to ponder “the relationship between photography
and abstract art [and] between drawing and the aesthetic of scientific
diagrams.”
