Object Type
DescriptionThis monumental suzani is an outstanding example of the rich textile heritage of Central Asia. Its intricate pattern, kaleidoscopic range of colors, and fine workmanship set an exemplary standard in Uzbek embroidery. Suzanis were part of wedding dowries made by female
members of a bride’s family, but the exceptional design and execution of the present suzani suggest that it might have been the product
of a textile workshop.
