DescriptionThis pistol-grip dagger has a carved rock-crystal hilt and polished jawhar, or watered steel blade. The floral ornament is restricted to the rounded pommel and quillons, enhancing the shape of the hilt and the transparency of the colorless quartz, or rock crystal.
Provenance[Christie’s, London, April 25, 1997, Lot 297]; Mohammed Rezai, Houston; purchased by MFAH, 2015.
