DescriptionMerchants of all kinds used lithographed trade cards like this to advertise their businesses during the late 1800s. Here, a small child listens to the ticking of a watch on the trade card of Adolph Bahn, an Austin, Texas, jeweler and silversmith who sold watches. Many trade cards, by contrast, bore images with no direct relationship to the business they advertised.
