DescriptionPhotography
is utilized to commemorate important events, illustrate significant stories,
and make bold social statements. Consequently, because this arrangement of
glittering plastic fruit is the subject of a photograph, there is an impulse to
assign it greater meaning. Caleb Churchill’s artificial still life pokes fun at
the perceived importance of images. Sometimes a display of kitschy plastic
fruit is nothing more than that. Yet, even without undue importance, it is
still a delightful subject for a photograph.
