DescriptionAbelardo Morell creates contemporary landscapes by utilizing a centuries-old, pre-photographic technology. He transforms an entire room into a camera obscura by covering the windows and other sources of light and positioning a lens in a small aperture, a technique resulting in the inverted projection of the outside onto the interior. In this way, the expansive outer world, such as the Grand Tetons, is brought into the comfort of a single room. Morell notes, “Artists, the good ones, tend to re-create the world for us.”
