Created while he was still a student at Chicago’s Institute of Design (ID), an innovative and experimental arts school, these photographs reveal Ray Metzker’s emerging artistic style, a synthesis of bold contrasts, technical precision, and optical innovation. Metzker utilized his camera to reveal the momentary, magical vistas of the urban world, often unseen by the naked eye.
